CWS GM13: History Repeats For Towns, Cavs
OMAHA — It’s easy to forget that Johnny Norwood’s home run didn’t end the 2014 College World Series. Norwood’s solo shot put Vanderbilt ahead 3-2 in the top of the eighth — but Virginia had runners at second and third with one out in the bottom of the frame. With first base open, Kenny Towns came to the plate — and got hit by a pitch to load the bases.
“That made it bases loaded and one out, and I was hoping they would pitch to him … because the guy’s a clutch player,” Virginia coach Brian O’Connor recalled.
