Fitt: Reframing The College Vs. Pro Debate
For the second time this fall, a player ranked among the top 20 high school prospects for the 2016 draft has announced his intention to enroll early in college this winter, thereby forgoing next spring’s draft. First, Georgia prep slugger Seth Beer (No. 20) decided to enroll early at Clemson. Then, on Thursday, rival South Carolina made its own splash with an early enrollment, as two-sport star Brandon McIlwain (No. 16) told the world he planned to skip the draft in favor of playing baseball and football for the Gamecocks.
