OMAHA — Brandon Waddell was a Friday night starter from the first game of his freshman year at Virginia. He spent that entire 2013 season atop the weekend rotation for a super regional team, then took a big step forward as a sophomore, when he pitched behind Nathan Kirby in the rotation but lowered his ERA to 2.45 and came up huge in the College World Series. He is the very definition of a battle-tested, big-game veteran.
