SAN DIEGO — For the first time in five years, the East squad came away with a victory in the Perfect Game All-American Classic, winning an uncharacteristically low-scoring affair, 3-1, at Petco Park on Sunday night.

The game was scoreless through the first four innings behind the big-time arms of Reggie Lawson (Arizona State), Kevin Gowdy (UCLA), Charles King (TCU) and Drake Fellows (Vanderbilt) for the West as well as Jason Groome (Vanderbilt), Austin Bergner (North Carolina), Zachary Hess (Virginia Tech) and Braxton Garrett (Vanderbilt) on the East side.
