Game Report: Rice Slides Past Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. — It was a fitting end for a sloppy, but exciting weekend series at Hi Corbett Field.

The ultra-aggressive Arizona Wildcats tried to gun down the lead runner on a sacrifice bunt attempt in the 10th inning of Sunday’s rubber match, but Sawyer Gieseke’s throw was wide and the ball rolled into the outfield allowing the go-ahead run to score for Rice. The Owls added an insurance run on a chopper over the head of a drawn-in infield and shut the door in the bottom half of the inning to take a 6-4 victory and a series road win.
