OMAHA — Vanderbilt freshman Kyle Wright never expected to be on the mound in TD Ameritrade Park … at least not this quickly.

With guys like Carson Fulmer, Walker Buehler, Hayden Stone and Tyler Ferguson, the Commodores had several high-quality arms returning from last year’s national championship squad. Throw in Philip Pfeifer, who has gotten stronger as the season progressed, pitching seven scoreless innings Tuesday night against TCU, and there doesn’t seem like there would be much need for a freshman arm to join in the fun.
