SAN DIEGO — It’s always fun to watch talented sophomores take The Leap right before your eyes. That’s what Bryant righthander James Karinchak is doing.

Karinchak had a strong freshman year, going 8-5, 3.24 in 77.2 innings, and he entered his sophomore year on the prospect radar — ranking as the Northeast Conference’s No. 1 prospect for the 2017 draft and earning the nod as D1Baseball’s preseason NEC pitcher of the year. We knew he was good — we just didn’t know he was this good.
